An ultraviolet (UV) system is a water treatment method that uses UV radiation to inactivate bacteria, viruses, and protozoa, thereby disinfecting the water. Usually, the UV system is made up of a quartz sleeve that allows water to pass through and a UV lamp. The powerful UV radiation from the UV lamp breaks down the DNA of microorganisms as water flows past it, preventing them from reproducing or spreading infection. UV systems are widely utilized for safe, chemical-free disinfection in municipal, commercial, and household water treatment applications.
